Eibar commence their third season in La Liga with an away game at Deportivo La Coruna. Our betting tips suggest the hosts will edge this one.

This will be a good test for these teams who finished within a point of each other last season in 14th and 15th place, although both clubs really fell away after a bright start to the campaign so have had some rebuilding to do over the summer.

Depor boss Victor Sanchez paid the price for that late season slump and was replaced by Gaizka Garitano who takes charge for the first time competitively here. They’ve added quite a few players this summer without spending a great deal and will be hoping that Florin Andone, who scored plenty of goals in the Segunda Division last term, will take some of the goal scoring burden off Lucas Perez, who did likewise in the top flight. Pre-season results have been pretty good and they come into the new campaign having won 5 of their last 6 friendlies and that includes a 2-0 win over Villarreal.

As for Eibar they for the first time head into a Primera Division campaign being something other than red-hot relegation favourites. The Basque minnows surprised many last season with some really good football and plenty of good results. However, they will have to cope this season without Borja Baston who scored 18 of their 49 league goals last term and they are yet to really buy an adequate replacement. Another blow is the loss of Keko to Malaga.

It’s hard to see them scoring as many goals this time around without those two which could land them in a bit of bother given defensively they aren’t great. Deportivo needed to improve and they look to have done that so backing Deportivo La Coruna to Win at 1.91 looks to offer the best value here and they do have a good recent record against their opponents.
