Jose Mourinho looks to continue his impressive start to life as Manchester United manager when they face Southampton in the first Premier League game of the weekend. Our free betting predictions suggest that Manchester United can get a comfortable win at Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho could not have hoped for a better start to his Manchester United career. He opened competitive proceedings with a 2-1 win over Leicester in the Community Shield, courtesy of a Zlatan Ibrahimovic debut goal. They followed this last weekend with a 3-1 dismantling of Bournemouth as Juan Mata, Wayne Rooney, and Ibrahimovic put the visitors three goals to the good before the hosts pulled a consolation goal back.

This was done without the most expensive player on the planet Paul Pogba, who was suspended due to a Coppa Italia suspension from last season. The 23 year old former Juventus player will be available against Bournemouth though, and he’s expected to be seen on the Old Trafford pitch at some point during the game.

Fellow new signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic has made an instant impact at Manchester United with two goals in two competitive matches, belying his 34 years of age and proving that he can still deliver at the highest level. With the new big money signings and a fantastic manager leading them Manchester United could be real contenders this season.

Whilst Manchester United have been bolstering their first team squad throughout the summer Southampton have been busy losing their’s. Once again they have seen key players move from St.Mary’s, this time Sadio Mane, Graziano Pelle and Victor Wanyama have all left along with manager Ronald Koeman. It’s time for another rebuilding job for the Saints.

They have brought in talented youngster Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Nathan Redmond to replace Mane and Wanyama, but it looks like they’ll be relying on Shane Long and Charlie Austin to take Pelle’s place.

Redmond made an instant impact last weekend as he netted on his debut for Southampton. He brought the scores level after a 9th minute Etienne Capoue opener for Watford, but despite Watford going down to ten men and Southampton completely dominating the game, they couldn’t find a winner and had to settle for a point.

Southampton just didn’t look clinical enough against Watford and I think they could find it really difficult on Friday. Mourinho has a formidable home record throughout his managerial career and I wouldn’t expect that to change at Old Trafford. His Manchester United side looked very impressive last weekend, and that can only improve with the introduction of Pogba.
